I learned in a documentary today that the short-faced bear was the biggest bear to ever live. He lived at the same time as the saber-tooth tiger. He was 11 feet tall, and he is a cousin to the grizzly bear. By the way, the name saber-tooth tiger is a nick-name for smilodon.
Boy I just can't see how a saber-tooth tiger could smile enough to be called a Smilodon. I once had a teacher that was so scary that I bet she could have scared a short-faced bear. At least she sure did scare me and my friends.
